PhilosophyWe approach business the same way we approach our lives – sustainably. Some consider it a way of operating with integrity, but it’s not just about ideology – it’s about mature living systems. Sustainability is the practice of meeting today's global economic, environmental and social needs without compromising the same opportunity for others – now or in the future. Business Sustainability operates under the same principle with profit in mind, utilizing an integrated or "triple bottom line," which aims for full accountability in profit, people, and planet. Instead of the familiar paradigm of market exploitation, Sustainable Business operates with the knowledge that a healthy living system is not hierarchical but holarchical and mutually beneficial so that all participants can thrive. Sustainable entrepreneurs often recognize that possibly the most effective social and environmental change is done via the market.
PracticeAt Organic Home, we power our energy-efficient office with renewable electricity via Green Mountain Energy, using 50% wind and 50% local hydroelectric sources. We use 100% post-consumer recycled papers and take care to recycle everything from plastic containers, shopping bags, and printer cartridges to batteries and household items. We purchase used products as much as possible and likewise donate items we no longer use. We are mindful of the products we buy and sell as well as the manufacturing process of those products. Our crews are always treated with respect and fairness are paid with a living wage. We prefer companies that use renewable energy, pay their employees well, recycle and buy recycled, and opt to use natural ingredients instead of using chemicals that are harmful to humans, animals and the environment. Of course, we encourage and facilitate the same practices with our clients. As for the social aspect of our company, we help people improve or transform their lives by either providing them services or by giving free tips and information (check out our resources pages!) on living more efficiently, fully, and in good physical & mental health. |

Why Organic Home? "And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom."
